26 LC 39 4939 House Resolution 1346 By: Representatives New of the 40th, Alexander of the 66th, Momtahan of the 17th, Gullett of the 19th, Kelley of the 16th, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Zander Trayvon Whatley and dedicating an intersection in his memory;1 and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Zander Trayvon Whatley was born on May 11, 2012, the b eloved son of3 Shareeda Dorsey and Jermaine Whatley, and his life was tragical ly cut short on April 29,4 2024, when he became an innocent bystander in a senseless act of violence within his own5 home; and6 WHEREAS, Zander was 11 years old and a vibrant fifth grade stud ent at Hal Hutchens7 Elementary School, where he proudly served on the student council; and8 WHEREAS, a talented athlete and competitor, Zander excelled at soccer, baseball, and9 football; and10 WHEREAS, Zander had an infectious spirit that shined brightly through his love of the Lord 11 and was demonstrated through his weekly worship; and12 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished13 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an intersection in his memory.14 H. R. 1346 - 1 - 26 LC 39 4939 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL15 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 92 and Sweetwater Church16 Road in Paulding County is dedicated as the Zander Trayvon Whatley Memorial Intersection.17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and18 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Zander Trayvon Whatley19 Memorial Intersection.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the22 family of Zander Trayvon Whatley and to the Department of Transportation.23 H.
