26 LC 129 1016 Senate Resolution 773 By: Senators Albers of the 56th, Payne of the 54th, Hufstetler of the 52nd, Echols of the 49th, Howard of the 35th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 9 to 13, 2026, as Georgia Donor Week at th e state capitol; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, organ donation is a lifesaving and life-enhancing gift, offering hope and healing3 to the thousands of individuals awaiting transplants each year; and 4 WHEREAS, more than 100,000 people in the United States are curr ently on the national5 transplant waiting list; and6 WHEREAS, a single donor can save up to eight lives, restore sight to two individuals, and7 improve the lives of more than 75 others through tissue donation; and 8 WHEREAS, Georgia Donor Week serves as a time to honor donors and their families for the9 extraordinary generosity that makes transplantation possible; and 10 WHEREAS, this observance also recognizes the dedicated medical teams, recovery11 organizations, healthcare professionals, and community partners who work tirelessly to12 support donation and transplantation. 13 S. R. 773 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1016 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body14 recognize February 9 to 13, 2026, as Georgia Donor Week at the state capitol and encourage15 all citizens to learn more about organ donation.16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed17 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the18 press.19 S.
