A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Georgia Advancing Communities Togeth er, Inc., and1
designating February 25, 2026, as Georgia ACT Housing Day at the capitol; and for other2
purposes.3
WHEREAS, Georgia Advancing Communities Together, Inc., (Georgia ACT) is a statewide4
member organization for nonprofit affordable housing and commun ity development5
organizations engaged in housing development, housing counselin g, and community6
development; and7
WHEREAS, Georgia is experiencing a significant affordable housi ng shortage, with an8
estimated 201,000 extremely low-income renter households lacking access to affordable and9
available homes; and the construction market has not seen a com plete rebound in new10
construction that reaches the peak of building while experiencing record population growth11
and12
WHEREAS, rising rental costs in Georgia have outpaced wage growth, with the average fair13
market rent for a two-bedroom apartment reaching $1,196 per month, requiring a full-time14
worker to earn at least $22.99 per hour to afford it without being cost-burdened; and 15

WHEREAS, stable and affordable housing is a proven foundation f or improved health,16
educational outcomes, and economic mobility, and reducing homel essness benefits17
communities socially and economically; and18
WHEREAS, Georgia ACT focuses on advancing equitable housing and community19
development by connecting and convening Community Development C orporations and20
nonprofits to address needs and build organizational capacity to improve life outcomes for21
residents in communities across Georgia; and22
WHEREAS, Georgia ACT strengthens the affordable housing and community development23
industry through training, leadership and professional development opportunities, technical24
assistance, and civic engagement; and25
WHEREAS, Georgia ACT continues to advocate for the development of safe, decent, and26
affordable housing in Georgia while ensuring neighborhoods rema in a catalyst for27
revitalization in historically disinvested communities; and 28
WHEREAS, Georgia ACT will host its 2026 Housing Day at the capi tol on February 25,29
2026, bringing together nonprofit leaders, residents, advocates, and policymakers to elevate30
housing as a cornerstone of economic stability, community healt h, and opportunity for all31
Georgians; and 32
WHEREAS, this event provides an opportunity for members of the General Assembly to33
hear directly from constituents and housing practitioners about the importance of34
strengthening tenant protections, expanding affordable housing supply, preventing35
homelessness, and supporting community development.36

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that37
the members of this body recognize and commend Georgia Advancin g Communities38
Together, Inc., for its leadership in advancing equitable housing and community development39
across the State of Georgia and hereby designate February 25, 2 026, as Georgia ACT40
Housing Day at the capitol.41
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized42
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to43
Georgia Advancing Communities Together, Inc. 44
