A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Sheriff Randall Johnson and dedicating an intersect ion in his honor; and for1
other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Sheriff Randall Johnson ably served and protected the citizens of this state as3
Fayette County Sheriff with an exceptional career in law enforc ement that spanned nearly4
49 years; and5
WHEREAS, born in Fayette County on October 13, 1940, and a graduate of Fayette County6
High School, Sheriff Johnson began his law enforcement career in 1959, when he was sworn7
in as a Fayette County Deputy Sheriff; and8
WHEREAS, in 1961, he went to work for the State of Georgia work ing at the Capitol in9
Atlanta, before joining the Georgia Department of Revenue's Div ision of Alcohol and10
Tobacco as a special agent two years later; and11
WHEREAS, in 1976, he was elected the twenty-third Sheriff of Fa yette County and was12
successfully reelected by the citizens of Fayette County for eight terms; and13

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished14
Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating an intersection in his honor.15
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL16
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 92 and Westbridge Road17
in Fayette County is dedicated as the Sheriff Randall Johnson Intersection.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and19
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Sheriff Randall Johnson20
Intersection.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for dis tribution to Sheriff Randall23
Johnson and to the Department of Transportation.24
