26 LC 129 9024 House Resolution 1349 By: Representatives Holcomb of the 101st, Taylor of the 173rd, Cannon of the 172nd, Williams of the 168th, Westbrook of the 163rd, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of John Donald Steed, Jr.; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of John Donald Steed, Jr., on January 17, 2026; and3 WHEREAS, John was a beloved son of John D. Steed, Sr., and Kath leen Steed Cullen, as4 well as the brother to Christoper, Brendan, and Tommy and the uncle to his beloved nieces5 and nephews; and6 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Megan Sorrell, and was blessed7 with two remarkable sons, Jack and Michael; and8 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United9 States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans; and 10 WHEREAS, after completing his active service John continued his education and earned a11 Master of Business Administration degree from Cornell University and a Master in Political12 Management from The George Washington University; and13 H. R. 1349 - 1 - 26 LC 129 9024 WHEREAS, John enjoyed a very successful career in the private s ector where he led14 marketing efforts for large companies and global brands; and15 WHEREAS, he was an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen, and his enthusiasm for The Boss was16 infectious; and17 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation18 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he19 made this world a better place in which to live; and20 WHEREAS, he had a deep concern for his fellow citizens, was a p erson of magnanimous21 strengths and was known for his humility, intelligence, and kindness, and he strove to make22 this world a better place.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of John Donald Steed, Jr., and25 express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the28 family of John Donald Steed, Jr.29 H.
