A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 20, 2026, as Donor Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, nearly 2,600 Georgians provided the gift of renewed or improved life through2
organ, eye, and tissue donation during 2025, including 229 who chose to become living3
kidney donors, saving and improving the lives of tens of thousands through organ, eye, and4
tissue transplantation; and5
WHEREAS, these generous gifts were facilitated by organ, eye, a nd tissue recovery and6
transplant organizations in Georgia that work together to educa te the public about the7
importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation as Donate Life Georgia; and8
WHEREAS, LifeLink of Georgia partners with hospitals to support and guide families as9
they establish their loved one's legacy through organ and tissu e donation and honor each10
donor by saving and improving the lives of as many patients as possible; and11
WHEREAS, LifeLink of Georgia and member organizations of Donate Life Georgia12
encourage individua ls to register their decision to save lives by joining the Donate Life13
Georgia organ, eye, and tissue donor registry while obtaining a driver's license, online at14

www.DonateLifeGeorgia.org, or when obtaining a hunting or fishi ng license through the15
Department of Natural Resources; and16
WHEREAS, LifeLink of Georgia and member organizations of Donate Life Georgia are17
working tirelessly to ensure that the nearly 3,300 Georgians cu rrently awaiting an organ18
transplant receive a second chance at life; and19
WHEREAS, by celebrating Donor Day at the state capitol and shar ing the Donate Life20
message, we can save and heal more lives and honor donors' lega cies of generosity and21
compassion; and22
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize those who have given the gift of life, both23
after death and through living donation; those who have receive d the gift of life through24
organ, eye, and tissue donation; those who are currently waiting for a lifesaving transplant;25
and those who died waiting because an organ was not gifted in time.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27
commend the selfless individuals and their families who make donation possible as well as28
the member organizations of Donate Life Georgia for their tireless dedication to educating29
Georgians about donation and saving lives through organ, eye, a nd tissue donation and30
recognize February 20, 2026, as Donor Day at the state capitol.31
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to LifeLink of33
Georgia.34
