26 LC 129 1161 Senate Resolution 779 By: Senators Walker III of the 20th, Anavitarte of the 31st and Jones II of the 22nd A RESOLUTION Commending the Georgia Building Authority, Garbutt Construction , SG Contracting,1 Balfour Beatty, and Nelson Architecture Engineers for their exe mplary work on the2 restoration and remodeling of the historic Georgia Senate Chamber; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, the Georgia Senate Chamber serves as the historic hear t of legislative4 deliberation in the State of Georgia, embodying the dignity, tradition, and democratic values5 of our great state; and6 WHEREAS, the preservation of this hallowed space required a meticulous balance of historic7 rehabilitation and the integration of 21st-century infrastructure to better serve the citizens of8 Georgia; and9 WHEREAS, the Georgia Building Authority, under dedicated leadership, provided the vision10 and oversight necessary to ensure this complex project was exec uted with the highest11 standards of stewardship for public resources; and12 WHEREAS, the joint venture of Garbutt Construction, SG Contracting, and Balfour Beatty13 demonstrated unparalleled technical expertise and craftsmanship , navigating the unique14 challenges of a historic landmark to deliver a project of lasting quality; and15 S. R. 779 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1161 WHEREAS, Nelson Architecture Engineers provided the essential design and engineering16 brilliance required to restore the Chamber's original aesthetic splendor while modernizing17 its functional capabilities for future generations; and18 WHEREAS, the collaborative efforts of these firms have resulted in a Senate Chamber that19 honors its past while providing a state-of-the-art environment for the legislative process,20 ensuring the Capitol remains a vibrant "working museum" for all Georgians.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22 commend the Georgia Building Authority, Garbutt Construction, SG Contracting, Balfour23 Beatty, and Nelson Architecture Engineers for their extraordina ry contributions to the24 restoration of the Georgia Senate Chamber and convey their heartiest regards for a job well25 done.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for dis tribution to the Georgia28 Building Authority, Garbutt Construction, SG Contracting, Balfo ur Beatty, and Nelson29 Architecture Engineers.30 S.
