26 LC 129 1143 House Resolution 1379 By: Representatives Beckles of the 96th, Adeyina of the 110th, Clark of the 108th, McClain of the 109th, Ali of the 106th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Juniors Running Club of Norcross; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Juniors Running Club was founded in the fall of 20 13 at Norcross2 Elementary School in Norcross, Georgia, with just 40 runners in grades 3-5, and by spring3 2014 had grown to over 100 active members; and4 WHEREAS, today the program operates out of Baldwin Elementary School in Norcross and5 includes more than 100 elementary school runners, 30 middle school runners, and 15 adult6 runners; and7 WHEREAS, the Juniors Running Club strives to promote movement and fitness through the8 sport of running; to prepare runners for high school cross coun try and track; to serve as9 ambassadors for running and for Baldwin Elementary, Summerour M iddle, and Norcross10 High in the Norcross community, Gwinnett County, Georgia, and b eyond; and to inspire11 teachers and parents to live active, healthy lifestyles; and12 WHEREAS, during the 2025-2026 season, the Baldwin, Summerour, a nd adult teams13 collectively known as Norcross Running participated in Global R unning Day 2025, and14 H. R. 1379 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1143 Baldwin Elementary hosted a highly successful fall program, averaging 80-90 runners each15 Friday morning at 7:00 a.m.; and16 WHEREAS, the Baldwin Juniors compiled an impressive total of 1, 601 miles as a group,17 with 65 runners reaching the half marathon distance of 13.1 miles and 8 runners achieving18 the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles; and19 WHEREAS, the Baldwin Juniors earned 1st place in the Girls Division and 2nd place in the20 Boys Division in the Cluster Race among seven local schools; and21 WHEREAS, the Summerour Juniors achieved several podium finishes , including three22 1st-place wins and a 3rd place finish at the Gwinnett County Championship out of 21 middle23 schools, a 2nd place team finish in a USATF Cross Country meet alongside Baldwin Juniors,24 and a historic first podium finish for the boys in the North Georgia Meet in Athens, Georgia;25 and26 WHEREAS, both Baldwin and Summerour Juniors capped off the seas on with an27 out-of-state trip to Louisville, Kentucky, to compete in the Middle School Nationals 2025;28 and29 WHEREAS, training resumes in March as the runners prepare for the Spring Track Season,30 the Baldwin Schoolwide Fun Run, and the Norcross Cluster Distance and Track Meet; and31 WHEREAS, the Juniors Running Club exemplifies excellence in you th athletics and32 community engagement, fostering dedication, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles among the33 young people of Norcross and Gwinnett County; and34 H. R. 1379 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1143 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this35 exceptional program be appropriately recognized.36 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that37 the members of this body recognize and commend the Juniors Running Club of Norcross for38 their remarkable achievements during the 2025-2026 season and e xtend best wishes for39 continued success.40 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized41 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the42 Juniors Running Club.43 H.
