26 LC 129 1091 House Resolution 1382 By: Representatives Jasperse of the 11th, Cox of the 28th, Campbell of the 171st, Hagan of the 156th, and Cheokas of the 151st A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 18, 2026, as Georgia Runs on Trucking Day; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the trucking industry is essential to the economic vit ality, public safety, and2 quality of life of the State of Georgia, moving more than 70 percent of all domestic freight3 and ensuring that goods, food, fuel, and critical supplies reach Georgia's communities every4 day; and5 WHEREAS, Georgia's trucking industry supports more than 333,000 jobs6 statewide-approximately one in every twelve jobs-and pays $19.3 billion annually in wages,7 while serving as a cornerstone of Georgia's nationally recogniz ed logistics and freight8 economy; and9 WHEREAS, more than three-quarters of Georgia communities depend exclusively on trucks10 to move their goods, and nearly all manufactured products in Georgia– approximately 96.911 percent of manufactured tonnage– are transported by truck at some point in the supply chain;12 and13 WHEREAS, the Georgia Trucking Association, for more than 90 yea rs, has served as the14 unified voice of Georgia's trucking industry by advocating for safety, productivity, and15 H. R. 1382 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1091 efficiency; supporting professional drivers and motor carriers; and strengthening the industry16 through leadership, education, and service; and17 WHEREAS, Georgia's trucking companies and professional drivers continue to demonstrate18 resilience, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety while navigating a dynamic19 operating environment shaped by economic cycles, congestion, workforce transitions, and20 rising costs; and21 WHEREAS, trucking professionals and companies invest heavily in safety, training, and22 modern equipment, with the industry investing more than $14 bil lion annually in safety23 nationwide, reinforcing a shared commitment to protecting the t raveling public and24 strengthening Georgia's transportation network; and25 WHEREAS, Georgia Runs on Trucking Day provides an opportunity for legislators, staff,26 and the public to engage directly with professional drivers and industry leaders, to learn more27 about the equipment and people that power Georgia's economy, and to recognize the essential28 role trucking plays in the daily lives of all Georgians; and29 WHEREAS, on March 18, 2026, members of Georgia's trucking industry will be present at30 the State Capitol, with commercial vehicles and equipment stage d for educational display31 and professional drivers available to share their experiences and insights.32 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that33 the members of this body recognize March 18, 2026, as Georgia Runs on Trucking Day at34 the State Capitol and commend Georgia's trucking professionals and companies for their35 indispensable service to the State of Georgia.36 H.
