A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 19, 2026, as International Diaspora Day at the state capitol; and for other1
purposes.2
WHEREAS, many of the traditions we celebrate and practice in the United States originate3
from the peoples of other continents; and4
WHEREAS, the myriad of cultures that make up the United States are a reflection of the rich5
history and traditions of the many nations and people who have immigrated to its shores; and6
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has been enriched by the presence of its citizens of7
international heritage, who have made invaluable contributions to its political, social, and8
economic prosperity; and9
WHEREAS, the members of the Georgia General Assembly salute the presence,10
productivity, and many contributions of those residents of international birth and lineage.11
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body12
recognize March 19, 2026, as International Diaspora Day at the state capitol.13

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed14
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the15
press.16
