A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the statewide Day of Service on March 18, 2026; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, as Georgia's 2026 Teacher of the Year, Rachel Kinsaul is encouraging schools2
and districts across the state to engage students in meaningful service learning through a Day3
of Service initiative focused on community connection, real-wor ld learning, and civic4
responsibility; and5
WHEREAS, all schools are encouraged to participate in the state wide Day of Service on6
March 18, 2026 and7
WHEREAS, schools are empowered to adapt the Day of Service to m eet local needs in8
collaboration with community partners and nonprofit organizations, allowing service projects9
to be embedded in the existing curriculum and translating class room skills into real-world10
applications; and11
WHEREAS, examples of service activities include clearing trails at state or town parks,12
volunteering at food banks, walking dogs at animal shelters, pl aying games with nursing13
home residents, working in community gardens, writing letters to service members, packing14
hygiene kits, or organizing donation drives; and15

WHEREAS, by centering service on authentic community needs and student learning,16
districts can strengthen school-community relationships while h elping students develop17
leadership, collaboration, and civic responsibility.18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19
the members of this body commend Teacher of the Year 2026, Rach el Kinsaul, and20
recognize the statewide Day of Service on March 18, 2026. 21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the23
public and the press.24
