26 LC 129 1127 Senate Resolution 780 By: Senators Hickman of the 4th, Tillery of the 19th, Watson of the 11th and Bearden of the 30th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 18, 2026, as Statesboro-Bulloch County Day at the capitol; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Statesboro-Bulloch County Day is presented by the Bulloch Engagement and3 Community Opportunities Network (BEACON), a collaborative platform designed to inform4 and empower the citizens of Bulloch County; and5 WHEREAS, Statesboro-Bulloch County Day provides an opportunity to celebrate Bulloch6 County; the City of Statesboro; and the municipalities of Brooklet, Portal, and Register; as7 well as the additional communities of Adabelle, Denmark, Hopeulikit, Ivanhoe, Nevils, and8 Leefield; and9 WHEREAS, Bulloch County was formed in 1796 as the 21st county in Georgia, named for10 Archibald Bulloch, the President and Commander in Chief of Georgia in 1776; and11 WHEREAS, the City of Statesboro was incorporated in 1803 and se rves as the Bulloch12 County Seat; and13 S. R. 780 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1127 WHEREAS, Statesboro-Bulloch County is home to Georgia Southern University and Eagle14 Nation, a nationally recognized pub lic research institution and a proud, passionate15 community of students, alumni, and supporters whose commitment to academic excellence,16 workforce development, and community engagement benefits the entire state; and17 WHEREAS, Georgia Southern University is the alma mater of the late Jack Hill, longtime18 Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, whose distinguished career and steadfast19 commitment to fiscal stewardship and public service left a last ing legacy on the State of20 Georgia, and whose wife, Ruth Ann Nail Hill, was also a proud three-time alumna of Georgia21 Southern University and lifelong educator; and 22 WHEREAS, Ogeechee Technical College, with renowned programs in healthcare, business,23 manufacturing, and other professions, has worked along with Bul loch County Schools to24 provide training for its students' success; and25 WHEREAS, the Economic Development partners in Statesboro-Bulloc h County have26 worked together to recruit jobs and investment, support busines s and commercial growth,27 enhance and grow Statesboro's downtown, and successfully market the community as a28 tourism hub in Southeast Georgia; and29 WHEREAS, Bulloch County continues to be among the most successful agricultural counties30 in the state, with a long history of farming and agribusiness; and31 WHEREAS, BEACON and its respective member organizations are committed to working32 together for the long-term success of Statesboro-Bulloch County , continuing its healthy33 growth.34 S. R. 780 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1127 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body35 recognize February 18, 2026, as Statesboro-Bulloch County Day at the capitol and extend36 their commendation to the Bulloch Engagement and Community Opportunities Network and37 the Statesboro-Bulloch County community for the contributions t hey make to the State of38 Georgia.39 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed40 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the41 press.42 S.
