A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Jim Coker; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Jim Coker on January 22, 2026; and3
WHEREAS, Jim Coker was born on August 28, 1940, a beloved son, husband, father, and4
uncle; and5
WHEREAS, Jim Coker was a proud graduate of Loganville High School, the University of6
Georgia, and Woodrow Wilson College of Law; and7
WHEREAS, he was an Eagle Scout and served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and8
liberty with the United States Army; and9
WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife of 55 y ears, Kaye, and was10
blessed with two remarkable children, Jennifer and Jessica, and two wonderful11
grandchildren, Jaxon and James; and12

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his generosity, sense of humor, and valued13
service to the community, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to14
his family and friends were admired by others; and15
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation16
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he17
made this world a better place in which to live; and18
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Jim Coker will long be remembered for his19
love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great20
fortune of knowing him; and21
WHEREAS, Jim Coker was a die hard UGA Dawg fan.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory o f Jim Coker and express24
their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the27
family of Jim Coker.28
