26 LC 129 1147 House Resolution 1402 By: Representatives Santos of the 117th, Flournoy of the 74th, and Holly of the 116th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dr. Kimberly Miles during Black Hist ory Month; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Dr. Kimberly Miles is an educator, published author, and community strategist3 whose career is built on a strong commitment to social justice, academic excellence, and4 celebrating achievement; and5 WHEREAS, as a leader in the Henry County School System and a pr ominent member of6 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dr. Miles combines her professional skills with a passion7 for service; and8 WHEREAS, the daughter of two educators, Dr. Miles continues her family legacy as a Social9 Studies Professional Learning Specialist and an Arts Integration Specialist where she creates10 transformative educational experiences that connect core curric ulum with creative11 expression; and12 WHEREAS, she also acts as the Excellence Recognition Coordinato r for Henry County13 Schools, ensuring that outstanding contributions are recognized and celebrated; and14 H. R. 1402 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1147 WHEREAS, Dr. Miles is the Director of the Henry County Regional National History Day15 competition, where she mentors future historians and critical thinkers; and16 WHEREAS, her contributions extend to a national level as a publ ished author and editor,17 with her insights featured in the respected publication, The Leader; and18 WHEREAS, Dr. Miles's dedication to community empowerment stems from her19 long-standing advocacy in South Carolina, where she has served as Second Vice President20 of the NAACP in Bennettsville as well as Co-Chair of the Marlbo ro County Democratic21 Party; and 22 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for23 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25 remarkable and distinguished gentlewoman be appropriately recognized.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Kimberly Mil es, thank her for her28 dedicated public service, and extend their sincere best wishes for her continued health,29 happiness, and success.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.32 Kimberly Miles.33 H.
