26 LC 129 1115 House Resolution 1411 By: Representatives Hawkins of the 27th, Cox of the 28th, Dubnik of the 29th, Dunahoo of the 31st, McCollum of the 30th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association is a p rofessional2 organization that supports speech-language pathologists (SLPs), audiologists, and speech,3 language, and hearing scientists in the state of Georgia and works to advance the interests of4 those professions and the public through education, mentoring, advocacy, resources, and5 service to ensure communication for all; and6 WHEREAS, many Georgians have communication disorders, language impairment or7 hearing disorders, or swallowing and feeding disorders; and8 WHEREAS, many of these disorders are caused by various factors including genetics, age,9 injury, disease and illness, and noise exposure; and 10 WHEREAS, SLPs and a udiologists are am ong the health care profes sionals providing11 hearing screenings, evaluations, diagnoses, treatments, and man agement for these hearing12 losses, communication and swallowing disorders; and13 H. R. 1411 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1115 WHEREAS, many of the professionals of the Georgia Speech-Langua ge-Hearing14 Association serve Georgia's most vulnerable through the Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, and15 Babies Can't Wait programs; and16 WHEREAS, Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association's members are licensed17 professionals, many of whom hold advanced degrees from accredit ed universities with18 special training programs; and19 WHEREAS, Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association's members may be found20 providing services in various settings, including hospitals, nu rsing homes, rehabilitation21 centers, clinics, physicians' offices, private practices, client homes, pre-K through grade 1222 schools, universities, and government and military practices; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24 distinguished organization be appropriately recognized for the health care and educational25 services its members provide to Georgia citizens.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body recognize and commend the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing28 Association for its past, present, and future work. 29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the31 Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association.32 H.
