26 LC 129 1173 House Resolution 1404 By: Representatives Taylor of the 173rd, Cannon of the 172nd, Erwin of the 32nd, Cox of the 28th, and Campbell of the 171st A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Thomas County Central High School football team for winning the 20251 GHSA Class 5A State Football Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Thomas County Central High School football team ha s established and3 maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics;4 and5 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of football6 competition by setting an all-time program and state record for scoring with 808 points; and7 WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team8 a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable9 2025 campaign, the team captured another state football championship; and10 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding11 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the12 team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astut e direction of Head Coach13 Justin Rogers; and14 H. R. 1404 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1173 WHEREAS, Deuce Lawrence set an all-time State Championship Rushing record with 38015 yards, set the all-time single season rushing record for Thomas County Central High School16 with 2,267 yards, and selected as an all-American for his efforts; and17 WHEREAS, quarterback Jalen Johnson finished his career as the a ll-time leading passing18 leader for Thomas County Central with over 6,000 yards, all-time leading touchdowns with19 over 100, and never lost a single game at home as a starter; and 20 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by21 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is22 abundantly proper to call them champions.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body congratulate the Thomas County Central High School football25 team for winning the 2025 GHSA Class 5A State Football Champion ship and extend best26 wishes for their continued success.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 Thomas County Central High School football team.30 H.
