26 LC 129 1071 House Resolution 1401 By: Representative Moore of the 91st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Reverend Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant has long been recognized by the citizens2 of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadersh ip and his deep personal3 commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Bryant is one of the nation’s most dynamic an d justice-driven faith5 leaders, shaped by the frontlines of civil rights organizing, g rassroots mobilization, and6 unwavering advocacy for marginalized communities; and7 WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Bryant's ministry reflects a core belief the faith must be an instrument8 of liberation and systemic change; and9 WHEREAS, a visionary, civil rights activist, Presidential Lifet ime Achievement Award10 recipient, and contributor to two Grammy Awards for his spoken-word performance on The11 Urban Hymnal, Rev. Dr. Bryant Bryant has served as Senior Pastor of New Birth Missionary12 Baptist Church in Stonecrest, Georgia, since 2018; and 13 H. R. 1401 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1071 WHEREAS, most recently, Dr. Bryant has emerged as a leading voice in economic justice14 through his leadership of the TargetFAST movement and Target Bo ycott, one of the most15 significant Black-led consumer justice campaigns in decades; and16 WHEREAS, his strategy calls for equitable corporate practices, accountability, and respect17 for Black buying power, continuing the legacy of economic nonviolence championed by Dr.18 King and other civil rights architects; and19 WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for20 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this22 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant for25 his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to t he State of Georgia and extend26 the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to29 Reverend Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant.30 H.
