26 LC 129 1183 Senate Resolution 806 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th and Anderson of the 43rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Sergeant Major (Ret.) Cendric D. Old s; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Sergeant Major (Ret.) Cendric D. Olds served as a guar dian of this nation's3 freedom and liberty with the United States Army Reserves, valia ntly and courageously4 protecting her fellow Americans from April 1990 to November 2018; and5 WHEREAS, her distinguished career culminated as the first Senio r Enlisted Advisor6 Sergeant Major and Army Liaison Officer at the Joint Personal E ffects Depot, where she7 provided compassionate leadership and support to more than 1,30 0 family members8 attending over 155 Dignified Transfers and Honorable Movements at Dover Air Force Base;9 and10 WHEREAS, her professionalism and steady leadership during joint service casualty incidents11 brought her into direct engagement with senior national leaders, including the President and12 Vice President of the United States, the Secretary of the Army, and other senior military13 officials; and 14 S. R. 806 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1183 WHEREAS, during her deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan, as Battalion Sergeant Major15 and Support Operations Non-Commissioned Officer with the 4-401st Army Field Support16 Brigade, she oversaw the readiness, welfare, and accountability of more than 4,500 combined17 military personnel, civilians, and contractors, and supervised the processing and shipment18 of thousands of pieces of military equipment; and19 WHEREAS, following her retirement, Sergeant Major (Ret.) Olds has remained dedicated20 to service through active membership in organizations including the American Legion Post21 516 in McDonough, Georgia; Henry County NAACP; Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority,22 Incorporated; National Council of Negro Women Henry-Clayton Section; and Zeta Phi Beta23 Sorority, Incorporated; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraord inary Georgian be25 appropriately honored.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 recognize and commend Sergeant Major (Ret.) Cendric D. Olds for her 28 years of28 exemplary military service and her continued commitment to comm unity leadership and29 civic engagement.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sergeant Major32 (Ret.)
