26 LC 129 9028 House Resolution 1403 By: Representatives Taylor of the 173rd, Cannon of the 172nd, Erwin of the 32nd, Cox of the 28th, and Campbell of the 171st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Mason Howell; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Mason Howell has quickly established himself as a rising star in amateur golf,2 most notably by winning the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship in 2025 at The Olympic3 Club; and4 WHEREAS, at just 18 years old, he became the third-youngest winner in the tournament's5 history, surpassing the age mark set by Tiger Woods for his first title; and6 WHEREAS, in the past year, Mason skillfully qualified for the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont7 as the youngest player on the field, and played a key role for Team USA in their Walker Cup8 victory at Cypress Point; and9 WHEREAS, this stellar young man epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and10 character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and11 WHEREAS, Mason’s continued success is the culmination of hard w ork, dedication, and12 excellent sportsmanship; and13 H. R. 1403 - 1 - 26 LC 129 9028 WHEREAS, his superior skill, strategy, stamina, and control have earned him the respect and14 admiration of his teammates and challengers; and15 WHEREAS, Mason plans to further his athletic and academic success at the University of16 Georgia, committing to joining the university’s golf team in 2026; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the superlati ve abilities of this18 accomplished and gifted student-athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect he has19 brought to him, his school, and his state, be appropriately recognized.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body recognize and commend Mason Howell and extend best wishes for22 success in the future.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to25 Mason Howell.26 H.
