26 LC 129 1089 House Resolution 1419 By: Representatives Martin of the 49th, Hugley of the 141st, Jones of the 47th, and Cooper of the 45th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 2026 as Turner Syndrome Awareness Month in Georgia; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Turner syndrome is a non-inheritable chromosomal disorder that affects one in3 2,500 live female births; and4 WHEREAS, individuals with Turner syndrome have an increased risk of non-verbal learning5 disorder, and in school and work these impairments can cause problems in math, visuospatial6 skills, executive function skills, and job retention; and7 WHEREAS, early diagnosis facilitates prevention or remediation of growth failure, hearing8 problems, and learning difficulties as well as increase access to complete cardiac screening;9 and10 WHEREAS, a disproportionately small amount of funding is available for Turner syndrome11 research and support; and12 WHEREAS, with the help of medical specialists and a good social support system, a woman13 with Turner syndrome can live a happy, healthy life; and14 H. R. 1419 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1089 WHEREAS, the establishment of February 2026 as Turner Syndrome Awareness Month15 provides the opportunity to share experience and information with the public and the media,16 in order to raise public awareness about Turner Syndrome.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body recognize February 2026 as Turner Syndrome Awareness Month19 in Georgia.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the22 public and the press.23 H.
