A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Code Section 12-3-58 of the Official Code of Georgia A nnotated, relating to1
powers, duties, and authority of the Department of Community Af fairs and historic2
preservation grant program, so as to ensure that Rosenwald Schools are treated as historic3
properties for the purpose of the historic preservation grant program and historic preservation4
grant fund; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
SECTION 1.7
Code Section 12-3-58 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to powers, duties,8
and authority of the Department of Community Affairs and histor ic preservation grant9
program, is amended by revising paragraph (5) of subsection (a) as follows:10
"(5) 'Historic property' means a district, site, building, stru cture, monument, or object11
significant in prehistory, hist ory, upland and underwater arche ology, architecture,12
engineering, or culture of this state, including artifacts, rec ords, and remains related to13
a district, site, structure, or object. For purposes of this paragraph, sites significant in the14
history of this state shall be deemed to include without limita tion combat veterans'15
gravesites and Rosenwald Schools in this state."16

SECTION 2.17
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.18
