HB1411: HB1411 Quality Basic Education Act; include domestic violence prevention in the existing program for teen dating violence prevention for students

26 LC 49 2683 House Bill 1411 By: Representatives Glaize of the 67th, Neal of the 79th, Erwin of the 32nd, Hagan of the 156th, Stephens of the 164th, and others A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Part 14 of Article 6 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O fficial Code of Georgia1 Annotated, relating to other educational programs under the "Quality Basic Education Act,"2 so as to include domestic violence prevention in the existing program for teen dating violence3 prevention for students in grade eight through grade 12; to pro vide for related matters; to4 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 Part 14 of Article 6 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official C ode of Georgia Annotated,8 relating to other educational programs under the "Quality Basic Education Act," is amended9 by revising Code Section 20-2-314, relating to development of r ape prevention, personal10 safety education, and teen dating violence prevention programs, as follows:11 "20-2-314.12 The State Board of Education shall develop, with input from appropriate experts, such as13 rape crisis centers and family violence shelters, a rape preven tion and personal safety14 education program and a program for preventing domestic violenc e and t e e n d a t i n g15 violence for grade eight through grade 12 which are consistent with the content standards16 H. B. 1411 - 1 - 26 LC 49 2683 provided for in Code Section 20-2-140. Local boards may implement such programs at any17 time and for any grade level local boards find appropriate, and the state board shall18 encourage the implementation of such programs. In addition, the state board shall make19 information regarding such programs available to the Board of Regents of the University20 System of Georgia."21 SECTION 2.22 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.23 H.
