26 LC 129 1155 Senate Resolution 829 By: Senators Brass of the 6th, Watson of the 1st, Kirkpatrick of the 32nd, Setzler of the 37th, Orrock of the 36th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 11, 2026, as Nurses Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, over 170,000 registered nurses in Georgia comprise the state's largest healthcare2 profession and are vital to the medical well-being of our citizens; and3 WHEREAS, professional nursing has proven to be an indispensable component for safe,4 high-quality care of hospitalized patients; and 5 WHEREAS, professional nurses are also vital to outpatient care of patients, and the renewed6 emphasis on access to primary and preventative care in recent y ears will require better7 utilization of our state's registered nursing resources; and8 WHEREAS, the aging of the American population, continued reduction of healthcare options9 in rural settings, and growth of home healthcare services have led to a greater than ever10 demand for registered nursing services, and more qualified registered nurses will be needed11 in the future to meet the increasingly complex needs of healthcare consumers in Georgia; and 12 S. R. 829 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1155 WHEREAS, the Georgia Nurses Association supports and advocates the many ways in13 which registered nurses of all levels of education and training strive to provide safe and14 high-quality patient care, and map out ways to improve our healthcare system.15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body16 recognize March 11, 2026, as Nurses Day at the state capitol an d commend the men and17 women of our nursing workforce for their strength, leadership, and courage and their18 willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed20 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the21 press.22 S.
