26 LC 129 1163 House Resolution 1430 By: Representative Kendrick of the 95th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Melissa Walker for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki1 T. Randall Servant Leader Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3 female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4 service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5 Women's Legislative Caucus; and6 WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7 Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8 inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9 WHEREAS, a dedicated leader and community advocate, Melissa Walker has transformed10 the lives of those in her community during her service as an ed ucator and co-founder of11 Centerville Highway Corridor LLC; and12 WHEREAS, through its educational initiatives, this remarkable o rganization successfully13 empowered citizens to speak up about the effects of potential r ezoning, ensuring that they14 were able to take part in decisions affecting their lives and communities; and15 H. R. 1430 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1163 WHEREAS, Melissa's passion for her community further includes a ctive engagement in16 championing literacy at Shiloh Middle School and through expanding access to Little Free17 Libraries; and18 WHEREAS, she is a woman of unassuming greatness whose humble ac ts of kindness and19 generosity have uplifted the community in Gwinnett County; and20 WHEREAS, Melissa has established a glowing reputation of renown throughout Georgia for21 her deep commitment to the literacy and civic engagement of her fellow citizens; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body congratulate and commend Melissa Walker for receiving the 202626 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and exten d best wishes for her27 continued success.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30 Melissa Walker.31 H.
