HR1434: HR1434 Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico; commend

26 LC 129 1167 House Resolution 1434 By: Representatives Santos of the 117th and Martinez of the 111th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Ric o; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, the annual service trip to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico mobilized over3 170 volunteers from across the United States, collectively rais ing more than $23,000 to4 directly support youth programming, facilities, and essential s ervices across multiple club5 sites; and6 WHEREAS, participating organizations included the Arcani and Kavari Chapters of Lambda7 Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc.; the Kennesaw State University Collective of Omega8 Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; and the Beta Epsilon Chapter of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon9 Lambda Fraternity, Inc.; and10 WHEREAS, during the trip, volunteers engaged in hands-on service activities designed to11 address educational, social, and community needs including academic support and mentoring12 for youth, leading educational and recreational activities, bea utification and facility13 improvement projects, and organizing structured programming foc used on leadership,14 confidence-building, and positive youth development; and15 H. R. 1434 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1167 WHEREAS, beyond direct service, volunteers worked closely with Boys & Girls Clubs of16 Puerto Rico staff to foster meaningful connections with the chi ldren and families served,17 reinforcing a sense of stability, encouragement, and community during a critical period when18 many public resources are limited; and19 WHEREAS, funds raised through the initiative directly support the Boys & Girls Clubs of20 Puerto Rico's mission to provide safe spaces, educational enrichment, nutritious meals, and21 wraparound services for thousands of children and teens across Puerto Rico; and22 WHEREAS, this service trip exemplifies the power of civic engagement, volunteerism, and23 cross-state collaboration in strengthening communities, expanding opportunity, and investing24 in the long-term success of Puerto Rico’s youth.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body recognize and commend the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico27 as well as its volunteers, staff, and partner organizations.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the30 Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico.31 H.
