A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Reverend James H. Miller and dedicating a road in h is honor; and for other1
purposes.2
WHEREAS, Reverend James H. Miller has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the3
Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,4
psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and5
WHEREAS, Reverend Miller attended Turner Theological Seminary a t Morris Brown6
College and the Interdenominational Theological Center Extension in Griffin, Georgia; and7
WHEREAS, as a young man, he served as an assistant pastor at Mount Carmel and at Shoal8
Creek Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia; and9
WHEREAS, in 1960, he began his first pastorship at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Rex,10
Georgia, where he served for nearly 29 years; and11
WHEREAS, Reverend Miller went on to serve as pastor of Holly Grove Baptist Church in12
Griffin, Georgia; pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church in Ellenw ood, Georgia; and pastor13
emeritus of both Holly Grove and Zion Grove; and14

WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the s ick, counseling the15
troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or16
humanitarian, Reverend Miller serves as a shining example of God's righteous path; and17
WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Miller is a source of18
strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic strata; and19
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished20
Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in his honor.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL22
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 155 from State Route 401/I-7523
to State Route 42/US-23 in Henry County is dedicated as the Rev erend James Miller24
Highway.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and26
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Reverend James Miller27
Highway.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Reverend James H.30
Miller and to the Department of Transportation.31
