26 LC 129 1117 Senate Resolution 839 By: Senators Dolezal of the 27th, Still of the 48th, Albers of the 56th, Echols of the 49th, Walker III of the 20th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 18, 2026, as Georgia Runs on Trucking Day at the state capitol; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the trucking industry is essential to the economic vit ality, public safety, and3 quality of life of the State of Georgia, moving more than 70 percent of all domestic freight4 and ensuring that goods, food, fuel, and critical supplies reach Georgia's communities every5 day; and6 WHEREAS, Georgia's trucking industry supports more than 333,000 j o b s s t a t e w i d e –7 approximately one in every twelve jobs – and pays $19.3 billion annually in wages, while8 serving as a cornerstone of Georgia's nationally recognized logistics and freight economy;9 and10 WHEREAS, more than three-quarters of Georgia's communities depe nd exclusively on11 trucks to move their goods, and nearly all manufactured products in Georgia – approximately12 96.9 percent of manufactured tonnage – are transported by truck at some point in the supply13 chain; and14 S. R. 839 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1117 WHEREAS, the Georgia Trucking Association, for more than 90 yea rs, has served as the15 unified voice of Georgia's trucking industry by advocating for safety, productivity, and16 efficiency; supporting professional drivers and motor carriers; and strengthening the industry17 through leadership, education, and service; and18 WHEREAS, Georgia's trucking companies and professional drivers continue to demonstrate19 resilience, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety while navigating a dynamic20 operating environment shaped by economic cycles, congestion, workforce transitions, and21 rising costs; and22 WHEREAS, trucking professionals and companies invest heavily in safety, training, and23 modern equipment, with the industry investing more than $14 bil lion annually in safety24 nationwide, reinforcing a shared commitment to protecting the t raveling public and25 strengthening Georgia's transportation network; and26 WHEREAS, Georgia Runs on Trucking Day provides an opportunity for legislators, staff,27 and the public to engage directly with professional drivers and industry leaders, to learn more28 about the equipment and people that power Georgia's economy, and to recognize the essential29 role trucking plays in the daily lives of all Georgians; and30 WHEREAS, on March 18, 2026, members of Georgia's trucking industry will be present at31 the state capitol, with commercial vehicles and equipment staged for educational display and32 professional drivers available to share their experiences and insights.33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body34 recognize March 18, 2026, as Georgia Runs on Trucking Day at th e state capitol and35 S. R. 839 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1117 commend Georgia's trucking professionals and companies for their indispensable service to36 the State of Georgia.37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed38 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the Georgia39 Trucking Association.40 S.
