26 LC 39 4982 House Resolution 1444 By: Representative Cannon of the 58th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mr. Jerry Hoy and dedicating a road in his memory; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Jerry Hoy has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital3 role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the4 citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, Mr. Hoy was one of the founding leaders of the Castleberry Hill Neighborhood6 Association in Atlanta, Georgia, and was a central figure in th e neighborhood's early7 revitalization; and8 WHEREAS, he played a key role in the development of the Castleb erry Hill master plan,9 hosting planning sessions and helping to shape the zoning, design guidelines, and community10 vision that laid the foundation for the modern Castleberry Hill Historic District; and11 WHEREAS, Mr. Hoy's leadership was pivotal during the neighborho od's transition from12 decades of industrial decline into the vibrant residential and arts community it is today; and13 H. R. 1444 - 1 - 26 LC 39 4982 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished14 American be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in his memory.15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL16 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 14 from State Route 3 to Haynes17 Street SW in Fulton County is dedicated as the Jerry Hoy Memorial Highway.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and19 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Jerry Hoy Memorial Highway.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the22 family of Mr. Jerry Hoy and to the Department of Transportation.23 H.
