26 LC 129 1048 House Resolution 1451 By: Representative O’Steen of the 169th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 24, 2026, as Georgia Commission on Women Champions for Change1 Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia Commission on Women was created in 1992 to advocate for the3 health, education, legal, and social welfare of women in the State of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, the Georgia Commission on Women consists of 15 commissioners appointed5 from across the state who represent the diverse geography and perspectives of the women of6 Georgia; and7 WHEREAS, Georgia has a wealth of citizens whose efforts and legacies greatly enrich the8 lives of Georgia's men, women, and children across disciplines as Champions of Change; and9 WHEREAS, recognizing exemplary men and women for their contributions to our state is10 an honor and privilege for the Georgia Commission on Women; and11 WHEREAS, on this day, the Georgia Commission on Women is proud to be recognizing12 Representative Lydia Glaize, Chief Jay Parrish, Dr. Delphia Young, Ela Lena, Kim Jones,13 and Representative Alan Powell.14 H. R. 1451 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1048 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that15 the members of this body recognize February 24, 2026, as Georgia Commission on Women16 Champions for Change Day in Georgia to honor Georgia leaders for their contributions to17 our communities in the areas of health care, education, anti-hu man trafficking, and18 leadership.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the21 public and the press.22 H.
