A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend an Act to revise and restate the law relating to the S umter County board of1
education and school superintendent, approved February 26, 2014 (Ga. L. 2014, p. 3503), as2
amended, so as to revise the compensation of such board; to provide for related matters; to3
provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5
SECTION 1.6
An Act to revise and restate the law relating to the Sumter Cou nty board of education and7
school superintendent, approved February 26, 2014 (Ga. L. 2014, p. 3503), as amended, is8
amended by revising Section 9 as follows:9
"SECTION 9.10
Each member of the board of education shall be compensated in the amount of $500.00 per11
month. In addition, each member of the board shall be entitled to reimbursement up to a12
maximum of $3,000.00 per year for actual expenses necessarily i ncurred in connection13
with travel outside of the county on official business of the board of education, including,14
but not limited to, attending training sessions or state-wide meetings; provided, however,15

that such travel is authorized by a majority vote of the members of the board of education16
prior thereto. All expenses shall be approved and verified prior to reimbursement in such17
manner as may be specified by the board. Each board member sha ll be entitled to18
participate in any school district group insurance plan to the extent authorized in Code19
Section 20-2-55 of the O.C.G.A."20
SECTION 2.21
This Act shall become effective on the first day of the month following the month in which22
it is approved by the Governor or in which it becomes law without such approval.23
SECTION 3.24
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.25
