26 LC 61 0397 Senate Bill 562 By: Senators Mangham of the 55th, Jackson of the 41st, James of the 28th, Davenport of the 17th, Wicks of the 34th and others A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Code Section 21-2-217 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to1 rules for determining residence relative to registration of voters, so as to allow persons of this2 state who are homeless and without a permanent address to use the address of the registrar's3 office of the county in which such person resides, a postsecondary educational institution in4 which such person is enrolled, or a place of worship with which such person is affiliated for5 election purposes; to provide for related matters; to repeal co nflicting laws; and for other6 purposes.7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:8 SECTION 1.9 Code Section 21-2-217 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated , relating to rules for10 determining residence relative to registration of voters, is am ended by revising paragraph11 (1.1) of subsection (a) to read as follows:12 "(1.1) The mailing address for election purposes of any person of this state who is13 homeless and without a permanent address shall be the registrar's office of the county in14 which such person resides For election purposes, a person of this state who is homeless15 and without a permanent address shall be permitted to use the m ailing address of the16 registrar's office of the county in which such person resides, a postsecondary educational17 S.
