26 LC 129 1108 House Resolution 1480 By: Representatives Cooper of the 45th, Martinez of the 111th, Smith of the 70th, Au of the 50th, and Reese of the 140th A RESOLUTION Commending Hemophilia of Georgia; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is a nationally and internationally recognized nonprofit2 organization based in Sandy Springs, Georgia, that provides cli nical services and3 psycho-social support to Georgians who have bleeding disorders, including hemophilia and4 Von Willebrand disease; and5 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is dedicated to enhancing the he alth and wellness of6 individuals impacted by inherited bleeding disorders through the provision of comprehensive7 healthcare, education, advocacy, and support of research into these diseases; and8 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia serves as the Southeast Regional Core Center; and9 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia began its work in Georgia in the early 1970s to help10 individuals with these disorders and diseases live as normally and as productively as11 possible; and12 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia employs several nurses, pharmacists, social workers,13 and others to provide the needed services to its patients; and14 H. R. 1480 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1108 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia operates two pharmacies to provide factor products to15 patients, and these have received accreditation from the Accred itation Commission for16 Health Care, Incorporated, and the Utilization Review Accredita tion Commission,17 Incorporated, demonstrating a commitment to high-quality standards of care; and18 19 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia also provides a camp for children who are affected by20 bleeding disorders, known as Camp Wannaklot, so that these youn g people may live and21 experience normal activities of childhood; and22 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia also keeps abreast of state-of-the-art advancements on23 treatments and protocols, sharing that experience and expertise with hemophilia treatment24 centers; and 25 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia supports research on behalf of those impacted by these26 diseases and disorders, including its work at Emory and St. Jude, and remains committed to27 its mission and vision to help individuals with bleeding disord ers to live as normally and28 productively as possible.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30 the members of this body commend Hemophilia of Georgia and all staff, volunteers, and31 individuals that the organization serves on behalf of those imp acted by inherited bleeding32 disorders in this state, throughout the nation, and around the world.33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to35 Hemophilia of Georgia.36 H.
