A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend An Act establishing the State Court of Muscogee County , approved1
December 20, 1884 (Ga. L. 1884-85, p. 455), as amended, so as to modify provisions relating2
to the salaries of the solicitor-general, the chief assistant solicitor-general, and other assistant3
solicitors-general; to provide for related matters; to repeal c onflicting laws; and for other4
purposes.5
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
SECTION 1.7
An Act establishing the State Court of Muscogee County, approve d December 20, 18848
(Ga. L. 1884-85, p. 455), as amended, is amended by revising subsection (b) of Section 3A9
as follows:10
"(b) The annual salary of the solicitor-general of the State Court of Muscogee County shall11
be not less than 90 percent of the salary, including the base s alary and any local12
supplement, for a junior judge of the State Court of Muscogee County. Such salary shall13
be paid in at least monthly installments from the funds of Musc ogee County. The14
solicitor-general shall devote his or her full time to the duti es of the office and shall not15
engage in the private practice of law."16

SECTION 2.17
Said Act is further amended by revising Section 3C as follows:18
"SECTION 3C.19
(a) The solicitor-general may appoint a chief assistant solicitor-general who shall serve at20
the pleasure of the solicitor-general.21
(b) The chief assistant solicitor-general shall have been admi tted to the State Bar of22
Georgia and shall devote his or her full time to the duties of the office and shall not engage23
in the private practice of law.24
(c) The annual salary for the chief assistant solicitor-genera l shall be not less than 8025
percent of the salary of the solicitor-general. Such salary shall be paid in at least monthly26
installments from the funds of Muscogee County.27
(d) The solicitor-general may designate any assistant solicitor-general who has a minimum28
of five years experience in the active practice of law as a senior assistant solicitor-general. 29
(e) The annual salary for an assistant solicitor-general or a senior assistant solicitor-general30
shall be fixed by the solicitor-general and shall be consistent with the salaries of other31
attorneys employed by the county or state. Such salary shall b e paid in at least monthly32
installments from the funds of Muscogee County."33
SECTION 3.34
This Act shall become effective on the first day of the month following the month in which35
it is approved by the Governor or becomes law without such approval.36
SECTION 4.37
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.38
