26 LC 129 1280 Senate Resolution 862 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Wicks of the 34th, Sims of t he 12th, Davenport of the 17th, Rhett of the 33rd and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Sydney Jakes for receiving the 20 26 Yellow Rose Nikki1 T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3 female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4 service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5 Women's Legislative Caucus; and6 WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7 Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8 inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9 WHEREAS, Sydney Jakes is passionate attorney, devoted servant l eader, and dedicated10 member of The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau11 Epsilon Omega Chapter; and 12 WHEREAS, she is a Senior Attorney and operational leader at the Law Offices of Samuel13 Jakes, Jr., LLC; and 14 S. R. 862 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1280 WHEREAS, with a heart for service and a steadfast commitment to progress, Sydney Jakes15 has orchestrated dynamic programs that address critical needs within her community; and16 WHEREAS, she has been instrumental in leading Heart Health Week, the TEO Little Library17 book drives, and the Blessings in a Backpack initiative; and18 WHEREAS, as a Co-chairmen for AKA Day at the Capitol, she passionately advances the19 causes of voter equity and education as well as amplifies the v oices of marginalized20 communities; and 21 WHEREAS, Sydney Jakes' leadership is a beacon of inspiration th at serves as a shining22 example of integrity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to others; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24 extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body26 congratulate and commend Sydne y Jakes for receiving the 2026 Ye llow Rose Nikki T.27 Randall Servant Leadership Award and extend best wishes for her continued success.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sydney Jakes.30 S.
