26 LC 129 1187 Senate Resolution 870 By: Senators Merritt of the 9th, Dixon of the 45th, Rahman of the 5th, Anderson of the 43rd, Parkes of the 7th and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Brookwood High School boys swim team for winning the 2026 GHSA1 Class 6A State Swimming Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Brookwood High School boys swim team has established and maintained3 a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and4 WHEREAS, outstanding dedication, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made5 this team a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, a nd as a fitting finale to its6 remarkable 2025 campaign, the team captured its 10th overall state swimming championship7 title; and8 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding9 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the10 team; and11 WHEREAS, senior Baylor Stanton led the way, setting a state record in the 200 IM; and 12 WHEREAS, in the 200 medley relay, the team of Baylor Stanton, E an Silvers, Collin13 Severtson, and Christian Alston won in a time of 1:32.26; and 14 S. R. 870 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1187 WHEREAS, the 200 free relay was won by the team of Baylor Stanton, Ean Silvers, Evan15 Loo, and Michael Stanton in 1:24.96; and 16 WHEREAS, Oliver Van Peteghem won the 200 free in 1:36.76 and the 500 free in 4:27.04;17 and18 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by19 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is20 abundantly proper to call them champions.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22 congratulate the Brookwood High School boys swim team for winning the 2026 GHSA Class23 6A State Swimming Championship and extend best wishes for their continued success.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Brookwood26 High School boys swim team.27 S.
