26 LC 129 1261 Senate Resolution 861 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Wicks of the 34th, Harbison of the 15th, Sims of the 12th, Davenport of the 17th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Shameka A. Jones; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Shameka A. Jones has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the2 vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare3 of the citizens of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, she served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United5 States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting her fellow Americans for six years; and6 WHEREAS, her distinguished service includes assignments at 2nd Infantry Division7 Headquarters in Camp Red Cloud, Korea, and at Signal Headquarte rs at Fort Gordon,8 Georgia, where she served in the Protocol Office; and 9 WHEREAS, her final tour of duty was with 1st U.S. Army at Fort Gilliam, Georgia, where10 she served on the Secretary of the General Staff and also served as the Non-Commissioned11 Officer in Charge (NCOIC) for Army Funeral Detail; and12 WHEREAS, throughout her military career, Shameka earned multipl e honors, including13 being named Soldier of the Year for 1st U.S. Army Headquarters and induction into the14 S. R. 861 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1261 prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, recognizing her exempla ry leadership and15 dedication as a Non-Commissioned Officer; and16 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high17 ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom18 which only comes through experience and the strength of charact er which is achieved19 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and20 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for21 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25 recognize and commend Shameka A. Jones and extend the most sinc ere best wishes for26 continued health and happiness.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Shameka A.
