26 LC 39 4997 House Resolution 1502 By: Representative Jackson of the 128th A RESOLUTION Recognizing the life of Mr. Raymond Crawford McGhee, Jr., and dedicating a bridge in his1 memory; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Raymond Crawford McGhee, Jr., was educated in the Springfield A & I3 School in the Log Cabin Community of Hancock County, Georgia; and 4 WHEREAS, a talented farmer, Mr. McGhee grew produce that he sha red with all and5 worked for the Sparta Furniture Factory for many years; and 6 WHEREAS, he diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,7 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced8 dramatically by his superlative service with the Georgia Department of Transportation, where9 he served as a foreman for 37 years; and10 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. McGhee was a long time member of the11 New Hope Powelton Baptist Church; and12 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished13 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a bridge in his memory.14 H. R. 1502 - 1 - 26 LC 39 4997 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL15 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the bridge on State Route 15 By-Pass b ridge over State16 Route 16 in Hancock County is dedicated as the Raymond C. McGhee, Jr. Memorial Bridge.17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and18 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Raymond C. McGhee, Jr.19 Memorial Bridge.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the22 family of Raymond Crawford McGhee, Jr., and to the Department of Transportation.23 H.
