26 LC 129 1295 Senate Resolution 885 By: Senators Halpern of the 39th, Orrock of the 36th, Kemp of the 38th and McLaurin of the 14th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival and Jason Orr upon its1 31st anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival was founded in 1994, in Atlanta,3 Georgia, as a Music and Arts Festival, and this year it is celebrating its 31st anniversary; and4 WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé's mission is to serve as a revolutio nary Music and Arts5 festival with a commitment to creating a space and uplifting music, film, and community, as6 well as preserving art and culture, and7 WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival has made a profound impact on the8 citizens of Georgia and countless individuals, providing a sign ature annual event that has9 expanded into a premier cultural celebration attracting thousands of attendees and featuring10 nationally acclaimed musicians, DJs, visual artists, designers, and cultural innovators; and 11 WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival has played a v ital role in the12 community, fostering an intergenerational dialogue for artists, shaping Atlanta's cultural13 identity, and cultivating and honoring Black culture; and14 S. R. 885 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1295 WHEREAS, each year thousands attend the Kafé Arts & Music Festival in Atlanta, serving15 to economically vitalize the community and support local artists, vendors, and other small16 businesses; and17 WHEREAS, the continued success and longevity of the FunkJazz Kafé reflect extraordinary18 vision, leadership, resilience, and dedication in advancing the arts amid evolving cultural and19 economic landscapes.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21 recognize and commend the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival a nd Jason Orr upon its22 31st anniversary, and extend sincere best wishes for continued success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the FunkJazz Kafé25 Arts & Music Festival and Jason Orr.26 S.
