26 LC 39 4998 House Resolution 1505 By: Representative Jackson of the 128th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mr. Gettis Cortez McGhee, Sr., and dedicating a bridge in his memory;1 and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Gettis Cortez McGhee, Sr., was born on July 30, 1961, the beloved son of3 Raymond Crawford McGhee and Barbara Frazier McGhee; and4 WHEREAS, a graduate of Hancock Central High School, Mr. McGhee diligently and5 conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the6 betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his ten years of7 superlative service with the Georgia Department of Transportation; and8 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. McGhee was a long-time member of the9 New Hope Powelton Baptist Church; and10 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished11 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a bridge in his memory.12 H. R. 1505 - 1 - 26 LC 39 4998 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL13 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the bridge on State Route 16 over Rocky Comfort Creek14 in Warren County is dedicated as the Gettis C. McGhee, Sr. Memorial Bridge.15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and16 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Gettis C. McGhee, Sr.17 Memorial Bridge.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized19 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the20 family of Mr. Gettis Cortez McGhee, Sr., and to the Department of Transportation.21 H.
