26 LC 112 3770 Senate Resolution 880 By: Senators Goodman of the 8th, Watson of the 11th, Jones II o f the 22nd, Lucas of the 26th, Summers of the 13th and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating Derrick Dove & The Peacekeepers for winning the 2026 International Blues1 Challenge; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Derrick Dove & The Peacekeepers represented the Wiregr ass Blues Society3 with exemplified artistry, musicality, and showmanship, setting a standard for Southern-fried4 blues rock excellence; and5 WHEREAS, in January 2026, the band captured the Band Championship at the 41st annual6 International Blues Challenge hosted by The Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee; and 7 WHEREAS, Derrick Dove & The Peacekeepers advanced through preliminaries, semifinals,8 and finals, judged on musicianship, vocals, originality, and st age presence, before their9 standout performance at the Orpheum Theatre; and10 WHEREAS, frontman and guitarist Derrick Dove was also honored with the Best Guitarist11 award, highlighting his dynamic, soul-stirring playing that fused deep Southern blues roots12 with explosive rock intensity; and13 S. R. 880 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3770 WHEREAS, this remarkable championship effort was led by guitarist/vocalist Derrick Dove,14 keyboardist Johnathan "JT" Thomas, bassist Walt Dunn, and drumm er Jamie Richardson,15 earning recognition for gritty, passionate performances rooted in classic blues with modern16 fire.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 congratulate Derrick Dove & The Peacekeepers on winning the 202 6 International Blues19 Challenge and extend best wishes for continued success in all future competitions.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Derrick Dove &22 The Peacekeepers.23 S.
