A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Mr. Ellis Crook and dedicating a road in his honor; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis Crook has long been recognized by the citize ns of this state for the2
vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare3
of the citizens of Georgia; and4
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Senoia, Georgia, Mr. Crook began working in his father's5
business, founded in 1913, at the age of 12, which started his distinguished journey as a local6
businessman and community leader; and7
WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United8
States Army during the Korean War and continued his service as secretary and treasurer of9
the Senoia Veterans Association; and10
WHEREAS, Mr. Crook purchased Crook's Grocery on Highway 16 in S enoia in 1960,11
founded Crook's Tire & Auto in 1966, and in 1990 founded McIntosh Finance, an installment12
lending company that has grown to include multiple offices across Georgia; and13

WHEREAS, Mr. Cook's leadership has been instrumental to numerou s organizations,14
including Senoia Methodist Church, Flint River Academy, the Cow eta County Zoning15
Appeals Board, the Coweta County Hospital Authority, the Georgi a Food Industry16
Association, and the Associated Grocers of Georgia; and17
WHEREAS, he founded and served as first president of the Senoia Area Business18
Association, authored Senoia Boy and generously donated all of the rights and proceeds to19
the Senoia Historical Association, and played an instrumental role in raising funds to retire20
the debt on the community building in Senoia State Park; and21
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished22
Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in his honor.23
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL24
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 16 in Coweta County from the25
roundabout intersection with State Route 54 to the intersection with Broad Street in Senoia26
is dedicated as the Ellis Crook Highway.27
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and28
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Ellis Crook Highway.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Mr. Ellis Crook and31
to the Department of Transportation.32
