26 LC 129 1331 Senate Resolution 901 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Wicks of the 34th, Davenport of the 17th, Jones II of the 22nd, Parent of the 44th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Master Sergeant Melissa Calvert-Shropshire; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Master Sergeant (MSG) Melissa Calvert-Shropshire serves as a guardian of this3 nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army, valia ntly and courageously4 protecting her fellow Americans since 1999; and5 WHEREAS, during her prestigious military service, MSG Shropshire supported Operation6 Enduring Freedom to Camp Navistar, Kuwait, and conducted convoy operations into Iraq to7 include assignments from Tupelo, Mississippi; Michigan; and Kentucky; and8 WHEREAS, currently, she serves as the Senior Human Resources Se rgeant assigned to a9 regional support group in Decatur, Georgia; and10 WHEREAS, MSG Shropshire's military education includes Motor Tra nsport Operation,11 Human Resource Specialist, Warrior Leadership Course, Basic NCO Course, Combat Life12 Saver, Advanced Leader Course, senior Leaders Course, Postal Op erations, Sexual13 Harrassment/Assault Response and Prevention, Battle Staff, Equa l Opportunity Leader14 Course, Master Leader Course, and an EEO Advisor Course; and15 S. R. 901 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1331 WHEREAS, as a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incor porated, MSG16 Shropshire exemplifies the service and values of the sorority; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraord inary Georgian be18 appropriately honored.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20 recognize and commend Master Sergeant Melissa Calvert-Shropshir e, thank her for her21 dedicated service to the State of Georgia and the United States of America, and extended22 their sincere best wishes for her continued health and happiness.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Master Sergeant25 Melissa Calvert-Shropshire.26 S.
