26 LC 112 3765 Senate Resolution 903 By: Senators Jones of the 10th, Rahman of the 5th, Harbison of the 15th, Merritt of the 9th, Mangham of the 55th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Georgia Piedmont Technical College upon the opening of its1 Regional Transportation Training Center; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Georgia Piedmont Technical College, located in Lithonia, Georgia, serves more3 than 4,400 students annually and maintains a job placement rate exceeding 98 percent; and4 WHEREAS, Georgia Piedmont Technical College has recently expand ed its instructional5 capacity with the opening of its Regional Transportation Traini n g C e n t e r , t h e l a r g e s t6 transportation education facility of its kind on the East Coast; and7 WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation Training Center provides h ands-on training in8 Commercial Driver's License programs, logistics, fleet maintena nce, electric lineworker9 education, and emerging transportation technologies; and10 WHEREAS, the center is projected to serve approximately 800 stu dents per semester,11 significantly expanding access to high-demand transportation, logistics, and infrastructure12 careers as well as greatly advancing economic development in De Kalb, Newton, and13 Rockdale counties; and14 S. R. 903 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3765 WHEREAS, the development of the Regional Transportation Trainin g Center reflects a15 substantial public-private partnership supported by the State of Georgia, DeKalb County, the16 City of Stonecrest, Congress, and key industry partners such as Georgia Power, Amazon, and17 Radius Recycling; and18 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Georgia Piedmont Technical College be19 appropriately honored for its contributions to the economic vit ality and workforce20 development in this state.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22 recognize and commend Georgia Piedmont Technical College upon t he opening of its23 Regional Transportation Training Center and extend best wishes for continued success in24 advancing workforce education across the State of Georgia.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Georgia Piedmont27 Technical College.28 S.
