26 LC 112 3806 House Resolution 1569 By: Representatives Franklin of the 160th, Carson of the 46th, Jenkins of the 136th, Tarvin of the 2nd, Evans of the 57th, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring Georgia's retirees and the Georgia State Retirees Asso ciation; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia State Retirees Association (GSRA) was established in 2006 and is3 a nonprofit organization which advocates for over 50,000 active and retired state employees4 and educators within the State of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, GSRA is dedicated to enhancing and promoting education , as well as the6 welfare of the entire Georgia state government community relati ve to the retirement and7 health care benefits that are provided to State of Georgia employees; and8 WHEREAS, it provides educational opportunities for members, including the exchange of9 information, ideas, knowledge, and expertise in all matters aff ecting the well-being of the10 community, including but not limited to retirement and insurance benefits; and11 WHEREAS, GSRA recognizes that the two common interests that bin d retirees of state12 government, local school systems, and the Board of Regents are pension benefits based upon13 salary, length of service, and health insurance; and14 H. R. 1569 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3806 WHEREAS, GSRA honors the many thousands of individuals who enri ched the State by15 their dedicated service and advocates for retention and continued excellence by assisting and16 encouraging the State to keep its promises to its workforce for retirement and insurance17 benefits; and18 WHEREAS, this association advocates and provides assistance for those actively serving the19 State of Georgia, and for those who provide or have provided service in the education of the20 children of Georgia; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary association be honored.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 the members of this body honor Georgia's retirees and the Georg ia State Retirees24 Association.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the27 Georgia State Retirees Association.28 H.
