26 LC 39 5028 House Resolution 1580 By: Representatives Jasperse of the 11th, Thomas of the 21st, Scoggins of the 14th, Byrd of the 20th, and Fincher of the 23rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing Mayor A.R. "Rick" Roberts III and dedicating an intersection in his honor; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mayor A.R. "Rick" Roberts III has long been recognized by the citizens of this3 state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to4 the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,6 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced7 dramatically by his superlative service as mayor of Ball Ground, Georgia; and8 WHEREAS, during his tenure, M ayor Roberts expanded Ball Ground' s sanitary sewer9 system by increasing the water capacity seven fold; upgraded se veral city government10 buildings including a new city hall, fire station, police station, library, senior center, and post11 office; and revitalized and expanded the many beautiful parks and recreational areas of Ball12 Ground such as Calvin Farmer Park and Roberts Lake Trail; and13 WHEREAS, his vision and leadership lead to Ball Ground obtainin g approval for a truck14 bypass, the widening of Old Dawsonville Road, and the expansion of city sidewalks15 H. R. 1580 - 1 - 26 LC 39 5028 connecting over 50 percent of residents to downtown, revitalizing the city for citizens and16 tourists; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished18 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an intersection in his honor.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL20 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 5BU and Gilmer Ferry Road21 in Cherokee County is dedicated as the Mayor Rick Roberts Intersection.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and23 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Mayor Rick Roberts24 Intersection.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to27 Mayor A.R.
