26 LC 129 9042 House Resolution 1547 By: Representatives Evans of the 57th, Oliver of the 84th, Buckner of the 137th, Hugley of the 141st, and Williams of the 37th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Nancy Daves for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T.1 Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the fi rst African American3 female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of4 service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia5 Women's Legislative Caucus; and6 WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative7 Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify th e leadership and8 inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and9 WHEREAS, Nancy Daves has served in leadership for a number of c onservation10 organizations in Georgia, including the Tybee Island Marine Sci ence Center, where she11 works on protection of North Atlantic Right Whales from large a nd small vessels along12 Georgia's coast; the Georgia Sierra Club, where she helped lea d the fight to protect the13 Okefenokee Swamp, one of Georgia's greatest natural treasures, from mining, including14 urging members of the Georgia Legislature to pass legislation prohibiting mining along the15 H. R. 1547 - 1 - 26 LC 129 9042 swamp's edge; and the Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, where she advocates for policies16 that ensure safe, accessible water, renewable energy, and environmental justice for all; and17 WHEREAS, before moving to Georg ia in 2016, Nancy worked on inte rnational marine18 conservation, including environmental, political and enforcemen t issues, for the National19 Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for 23 years; and 20 WHEREAS, Nancy is a woman of unassuming greatness whose humble acts of kindness and21 generosity have uplifted her entire community; and 22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23 extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body congratulate and commend Nancy Daves for receiving the 202626 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and exten d best wishes for her27 continued success.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30 Nancy Daves.31 H.
