26 LC 39 4993 House Resolution 1578 By: Representatives Yearta of the 152nd, Greene of the 154th, Cheokas of the 151st, Parsons of the 44th, and Smith of the 138th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mr. Herman Douglas Everett and dedicating a road in his memory; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Herman Douglas Everett has long been recognized by the citizens of this3 state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to4 the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, Mr. Everett graduated from Sylvester High School and a ttended the Georgia6 Institute of Technology and Georgia Southern University; and7 WHEREAS, he was the founder and president of Southern Appraisal Company, where he8 appraised commercial real estate for over 30 years; and9 WHEREAS, Mr. Everett's leadership was instrumental to organizations such as the Albany10 Planning and Zoning Commission and the Albany City Commission, where he served as11 mayor pro tem for two terms; and12 WHEREAS, he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1996 before serving13 on the Georgia Public Service Commission for almost two decades; and14 H. R. 1578 - 1 - 26 LC 39 4993 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le and distinguished15 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in his memory.16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL17 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 133 from St ate Route 112 to18 Bridgeboro-Anderson City Road in Worth County is dedicated as the Doug Everett Memorial19 Highway.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and21 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Doug Everett Memorial22 Highway.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the25 family of Mr. Herman Douglas Everett and to the Department of Transportation.26 H.
