26 LC 129 1319 House Resolution 1552 By: Representatives Scott of the 76th, Burnough of the 77th, Flournoy of the 74th, Schofield of the 63rd, and Davis of the 87th A RESOLUTION Honoring and recognizing Chief Kevin Roberts for his distinguis hed service to Clayton1 County; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Chief Kevin Roberts is a career law enforcement professional with 32 years of3 dedicated public safety service, including 28 years of exemplar y service with the Clayton4 County Police Department; and5 WHEREAS, Chief Roberts began his career with the Clayton County Police Department in6 January 1998 as a patrol officer and steadily progressed through the ranks, serving in various7 leadership and operational capacities before being appointed as Clayton County's Chief of8 Police in January 2018; and9 WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Chief Roberts has demonstrated extraordinary devotion10 to duty, a meticulous commitment to excellence, and an unwavering dedication to the highest11 standards of law enforcement professionalism; and12 WHEREAS, Chief Roberts is widely regarded by citizens, communit y leaders, local13 government officials, and state officials as a man of unquestio ned integrity, humility, and14 H. R. 1552 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1319 character, who serves not only as a public servant but as a tru sted leader grounded in15 compassion and service; and16 WHEREAS, during the challenges brought on by the Great Recession, Chief Roberts played17 a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between the Clayton County Police Department and18 neighborhood communities, helping to establish, develop, and sustain long-term partnerships19 built on transparency, accountability, and open dialogue; and20 WHEREAS, for more than 16 years, Chief Roberts has remained approachable, accessible,21 responsive, and willing to engage in meaningful dialogue with residents-seeking feedback22 whether positive or negative-and addressing complex and difficult issues with honesty and23 thoughtful leadership; and24 WHEREAS, Chief Roberts has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to enhancing25 public health, safety, and quality of life for all Clayton County citizens by ensuring that the26 Clayton County Police Department remains engaged, community-focused, and proactive in27 its initiatives; and28 WHEREAS, born in Atlanta, Georgia, Chief Roberts is a graduate of Towers High School29 in Decatur, Georgia, served in the United States Navy through t he Naval Reserve Officer30 Training Corps while attending Morehouse College, and began his public safety career as a31 Corrections Officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections at Lee Arrendale State32 Prison and the Georgia Alcovy Diversion Center from December 1993 through November33 1997; and34 WHEREAS, Chief Roberts furthered his education by earning a Bac helor of Business35 Administration degree from Shorter University and a Master's de gree in Public Safety36 H. R. 1552 - 2 - 26 LC 129 1319 Administration from Columbus State University, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to37 professional growth and leadership development; and38 WHEREAS, his leadership exemplifies integrity, compassion, acco untability, and an39 unwavering pursuit of excellence in service to Clayton County.40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that41 the members of this body commend and honor Chief Kevin Roberts for his outstanding42 service, leadership, and steadfast dedication to the citizens of Clayton County.43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Chief Kevin Roberts is recognized as a model law44 enforcement professional whose career reflects the highest prin ciples of public service,45 community partnership, and commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents.46 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized47 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Chief48 Kevin Roberts.49 H.
