A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Malcolm Mitchell; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Malcolm Mitchell, a native of Valdosta, Georgia, is a former NFL player, Super2
Bowl champion, author, motivational speaker, literacy advocate, and the founder and CEO3
of the Share the Magic Foundation; and4
WHEREAS, an accomplished football player, Malcolm Mitchell was a wide receiver for the5
University of Georgia before going on to play in the NFL with the New England Patriots; and6
WHEREAS, while studying at the University of Georgia, he came to the difficult realization7
that he could not read proficiently; and8
WHEREAS, inspired by his personal challenges, Malcolm Mitchell founded the Share the9
Magic Foundation and launched the Read with Malcolm initiative to encourage children10
facing similar circumstances to embrace reading and discover the transformative power of11
literacy; and12
WHEREAS, the Share the Magic Foundation operates in-person and virtually across all 5013
states and in more than 17 countries worldwide; and14

WHEREAS, through his personal journey and the work of the Share the Magic Foundation,15
Malcolm Mitchell has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment t o empowering young16
readers; and 17
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplar y individual be18
appropriately honored. 19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20
the members of this body recognize and commend Malcolm Mitchell for his unwavering21
dedication to inspiring readers to overcome challenges and embrace literacy.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to24
Malcolm Mitchell.25
