26 LC 112 3784 Senate Resolution 896 By: Senators James of the 28th, Howard of the 35th, Merritt of the 9th, Mangham of the 55th, Jackson of the 41st and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Craig Miller's life, legacy, and lasting impact on the State of1 Georgia's film industry; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the passing of Craig Mille r, a respected leader,3 innovator, and advocate whose vision and dedication helped shape Georgia into one of the4 premier film and television production hubs in the nation; and5 WHEREAS, raised in Columbus, Georgia, and a proud graduate of t he University of6 Georgia, Craig Miller developed an early passion for theater an d founded Craig Miller7 Productions in Atlanta in 1985; and8 WHEREAS, he devoted his career to strengthening the state's creative economy and played9 a pivotal role in advanc ing policies, partnerships, and infrast ructure that expanded10 opportunities for filmmakers, production crews, small businesse s, and local communities11 across Georgia; and12 WHEREAS, through his work with industry stakeholders, public of ficials, and economic13 development leaders, he championed initiatives that attracted major productions to Georgia,14 S. R. 896 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3784 generating thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity while elevating the15 state's reputation on the global stage; and16 WHEREAS, his leadership helped cultivate a thriving ecosystem f or film, television, and17 digital media production, supporting workforce development, fos tering local talent, and18 ensuring that Georgia's communities benefited directly from the growth of the entertainment19 sector; and20 WHEREAS, his contributions have left an indelible mark on Georgia's cultural and economic21 landscape, and his efforts will continue to benefit generations of Georgians who work in and22 are inspired by the film industry; and23 WHEREAS, in addition to his exemplary career accomplishments, C raig Miller was24 cherished by his loved ones as a loyal husband, devoted father of six wonderful children, and25 doting grandfather of eight remarkable grandchildren; and26 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding life and service of this27 remarkable Georgian be appropriately recognized and remembered.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 join in honoring the life and memory of Craig Miller and expres s their deepest and most30 sincere regret at his passing.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Craig33 Miller.34 S.
